SHAMIRA DHARAP

Shamira is a student of visual art at the Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda. She has been painting since she was a child; she started studying art under her mother and grandfather at the Creative Club at the age of 3, and hopes to extend that experience to the kids that come to learn at the Creative Club. She believes that her biggest takeaway as a Fine Art student has been learning how to see.

As a lover of all things jungle-like, she incorporates natural elements throughout her body of work. Her current practice explores craft traditions through mixed media works and collages.

RADHA VALVEKAR

Radha holds a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pune. She studied art under her aunt Sujata Dharap and her grandfather Bal Wad at a very young age and continued learning in the studio and working with Sujata– teaching children and assisting her to paint large murals on wood and walls. She worked for 4 years as a school counsellor at the Bishop’s school, Kalyani Nagar, following which she worked full time at Hastakari, a design studio for custom painted crockery and art objects in Pune. There, she trained under and worked alongside its founding artist, Saroj Naik.

Practicing art and expressing through it gives her a great sense of calmness and she tends to enjoy art that requires a lot of patience and minute detailing; this is why she enjoys working in mediums like embroidery and collage.
